Thank you for your reply. I have waited quite a long time to get back to you as I wanted to take some time to think about your reply. However after more than 2 weeks I am still confused… I presume that you mean that you picked these wines specific for the German market but I am not too sure.
I know that the German market is very price sensitive – however in my understanding of the market there is still a focus on quality as well as price… I further still believe that Prowein really is an international fair – a lot more than say LIWF or VinItaly or even VinExpo. An example here is that the tasting I attended was mainly in English with only a little German spoken – which makes me think that an international crowd/market was also targeted…
Anyway I don’t think I will understand until I have actually had the opportunity of meeting with you and taste again. I will send you an email as soon as I know what days I will be at the LIWF so I can make an appointment for a tasting and maybe a further discussion about the Prowein tasting. Please do understand that I did not mean to imply that there are no good wines in Turkey – I just concluded that I was disappointed by the particular selection for the tasting I attended and that I felt this is undermining some of the excellent PR work the WOT are undertaking at the moment.Looking forward to meeting you in May.

Dear Caroline, In these kind of trade exhibitions wineries are
trying to put forward the wines which they think the related target market may
demand. Sometimes some of the selected wines can be wrong. However please note
that we do not let wineries decide this by themselves alone. I can share with
you about the procedure how we determine the wines via email. If you are

Thank you for your message. I will be going to the RAW fair and will spend a day or 2 at the LIWF as well. I would be interested in chatting and tasting more wines and would like to make an appointment closer to the time. In the mean time do you maybe already want to share what the reasons were behind the choice of wines at Prowein?Best Regards,

Thank you for your reply. I have heard and read great things about Turkish wines. I think that is part of the reason why I was so disappointed by the tasting at Prowein. At the moment I am not booked to go to Izmir but I will try and taste Turkish wines again at the LIWF and sincerely hope the selection is better there:-)

Hi Caroline, I am a winery owner in Thrace. I understand your concerns regarding names. Regarding quality, there are some very good wines in Turkey. I hope you would taste them when you are in Izmir.

Turkish wine is almost as bad as Crimean wine. Perhaps worse. Thanks for confirming our worst fears.

Please do tell us a bit more about yourself? Why do you want the wine names and vintages? I do not see why I should shame and name these wines… In my opinion the fact that these were the wines that were picked by the Wines of Turkey to “show off” Turkish wines at Prowein says enough… It means for me that these are the wines they want us to buy/drink as they feel these wines form a good representation of Turkish wine…

FYI – I deliberately did not post the wines and vintages here – I only ever post wine names and vintages when I like them and at that time I add tasting notes.

Yes he Organic/Ecological Hall was new this year and I really welcomed this initiative. Besides the fact it was great for me to be able to conveniently taste wines I am particularly interested in, having a fair like Prowein endorse Natural/Organic/Sustainable wine growing means the movement is taking off in a bigger way!Re Turkey – I would be really interested to find out WHY they decided to show the wines they did at Prowein… Not in the least because of the EWBC… Hopefully reading my honest review and seeing my questions will make the Wines Of Turkey think about their strategy as surely they do not want to undo all the good work they have done by imposing his “commercial drek” on the people visiting Izmir later on this year…
